Hope Cottage

Access to food is a fundamental right

Hope Cottage is a charitable organization whose mission is to provide meals to those who cannot afford to obtain these meals themselves. UUCH volunteers help put nutritious food on the plates of some of the people who access Hope Cottage.

Volunteers from UUCH get together or work alone to prepare, deliver and serve meals to the people who visit Hope Cottage. The Hope Cottage outreach initiative welcomes new volunteers. If you want  to offer to make a casserole for the specified meal date (usually every 6 weeks or so), or to help deliver some of these well-appreciated caseseroles and other dishes to Hope Cottage (on Brunswick Street in Halifax), or  to serve the meals on site -- then contact the coordinator (Kathy Spencer in the UUCH Directory). A sign-up sheet is posted at church a couple of weeks before a scheduled meal drive.

You can also help by donating food or money.  Hope Cottage outreach volunteers will use it to purchase food with which to prepare meals.
